USS Einstein “Misunderstanding” Mission 230731

We met in the Command Room aboard the USS Einstein - which was moored at Galileo Station.
Having restocked our supplies and undertaken a short tour of some of the key areas of Galileo Station, we were ready to resume our exploration of the sector.
We therefore made our way to the Bridge.

We took up our stations on the Bridge and when all were ready, OPs contacted Galileo Station for permission to undock and depart.
Having received the necessary permission, we went to Blue alert for the undocking process and for slipping away from Galileo Station using thrusters.
Helm then set course towards the planet Delphi-Ran.

Once we were clear of the Ircassian system, we went to warp and headed out into space.
As we were nearing the Delphi system, Tactical reported scanners were showing an object ahead.
Once we came out of warp, our scanners indicated that it was a ship ahead of us.

We moved closer under impulse power before coming to a full stop.
We were surprised to find that the ship ahead of us seemed to be the same ship that had been attacking Ray Dixon's ship (see "There be Pirates here !" Mission 230703).
As such we went to Yellow alert then hailed the ship.
The ship's response to our hail was to fire on us with low energy phasers, then it started to move away.
As the ship's phasers had caused us no damage, Capt Bravin ordered Helm to quickly move us in front of the ship - then told them to cut their engines or we would fire.
The ship came to a stop - and this time we received a response from a Captain Morgan aboard the SS Argos, saying that they would defend themselves if necessary.
When asked why they had fired upon us, Capt Morgan said that they thought that we were pirates !

Having assured Capt Morgan that we were Starfleet and not pirates, we offered a teleport to our ship, so that any misunderstanding could be corrected.
Security met Capt Morgan and escorted her from our Transporter Room to the Bridge - where Capt Bravin asked why they had thought we were pirates and had fired on us ?

Capt Morgan explained that they had been chasing Ray Dixon's ship, as he had lied about being a trader and had stolen goods from them. Having caught up with his ship, he tried to escape - so they fired on him. But then our ship came along and defended Ray Dixon's ship and threatened them. So when we confronted them once again, they assumed that we were pirates, just like Ray Dixon.
Capt Morgan asked about Ray Dixon and we explained that he was now in the Brig on Galileo Station.
She then asked about his ship and we explained that it was impounded at Galileo Station.
Capt Morgan asked for the coordinates of Galileo Station, so that they could travel there to reclaim their goods and try to get some compensation by taking ownership of his ship.
Helm sent the coordinates of Galileo Station over to the Argos prior to Capt Morgan's return to her ship.
