Captains Log: 29/09/2024

For the past two weeks we have been on the  remote Station repairing and fixing what we can we, also we went to the remote Airstrip taking samples and collecting Data. the objects we found also need cataloguing.  We returned for s third time and as we were collecting our final samples and data, firstly my XO Commander Ferre Flamand collapsed, shortly after  he went  down so did Lt Cmdr. Luke  (secret) Koda  , luckily our Doctor  was at hand she quickly  checked them out and there were  both Transported to the Shoguns Sickbay where she  could examine them more closely. they were diagnosed as Luke having a Avian Flu that affects his  Species, and Ferre symptoms were close to   that of onset of Dementia. both  were having trouble communicating.

Report by Lt. Deputy Chief of Science USS Shogun: Georgina Mills:

Our mission has detected certain artifacts that are very out of place!
Firstly, as I mentioned on the planet, that it was a drainage ornament; we saw a giant Gargoyle, which is very weird indeed concidering it's more humble usage in architecture.
It is meant as a water course for water drainage off a roof, which is more commonly used by pipework with no ornamentation. In architecture it used to be made into fancy artwork at the end of the pipe, featuring an ornamental waterspout, similar to a fountain. The word comes from the old French language, to Gargle, as in the Gullet or throat.
One story has it as a real ancient creature, but just one story, so it's a nice fable. They have a common function but grotesque artwork.
So what is a Gargoyle of that size doing on an alien planet with no water system in sight? Maybe someone wanted a huge useless ornamental one?

Secondly, there is a Sphinx which looks exactly like the Great Sphinx in Gaza, Egypt. This ancient stonework cut from the limestone bedrock, into blocks, has the face of Pharaoh Khafre. As we're in 2385 now it's almost 5000 years old. Got some 'wear and tear' which was not caused by Napoleon's troops using the Sphinx's nose for target practice, but the damage was chisled out about 3 centuries earlier as artwork predating Napoleon features the nose cut off the statue.
The Sphinx was originally representing Horus of the Horizon (the word horizon named after Horus) Hor-em-akhet.

Then during the Greek empire it was named The Sphinx after a Greek mythological creature, from The Riddle of the Sphinx. Who according to legend, told the riddle to travelers wanting to pass her, and if they got the riddle wrong she strangled and ate that traveler. What creature has one voice, but walks four footed, then walks two footed then walks three footed? Oedipipus solved the riddle, he figured it was the course of a Human life, when born, as a baby you walk on all fours, when you get older you walk on two feet, then when you get old, you use a walking stick and walk on 3 feet. Once the riddle was solved the Sphinx lost it's food supply and commited suicide by throwing herself off a cliff and died! Either that or Oedipus killed her, or she devoured herself depending on what story you read.

There are lot of instances of Sphinx like creatures in many cultures on planet Earth.

Thirdly there is an ancient means of transport on the planet known as a 'Hot Air Balloon' which relies on the different temporatures between the inside of the balloon and the outside. The warmer air inside rises the vehicle compared to the cooler air outside. As long as that continues the vehicle rises, floating on air. The principle is that hot air rises.
The balloon is known as the envelope and the basket below for passengers is known as a gondola.
Once airborn it is not possible to steer the balloon accurately and you are left at the mercy of the wind and current airflow.
First manned flight was in 1783 and less than 200 years later humans made it into spaceflight!

The big questions are - why are these artifacts on an alien planet? Why is the Gargoyle giant size? Who put them there and where are they now?

Mission Log 2024.08.14

Today we encountered 12 ships inhabiting each more than 18.000 of a dwarf alien race who lost their home planet,
and we will help finding them a new inhabitable planet for them to live on.
I've engaged the status protocol for towing their ships safely through warp speed 4.

End of log!

Today Commander Quan and i were on Helm Duty
We kept steady on warp 4 while we towed the ships of our newfound race.
Lt. Koda told they could be a offshoot colony of the Xindi Avians.
Also the medical team have been recalled from the Armada and are back on the ship.
we detected on the short range scanners some background radiation elevation but nothing too alarming.
Suddenly a flash of light hits our viewers and after that it went dark.
I don't know how long i went out but i laid on the floor with a major headache and i lost my eyesight.
Lt. Koda escorted me to the sickbay and helped me on one of the Biobeds, i heard Commander quan got struck too.
Lt. Koda stayed with me for a while and held my hand... i'm so scared... *sobbing*... sorry...

End of Lo
