Stardate 230203 Security Chief T’Mari’s log:
I have just arrived back to the ship after an away mission on planet New Japan. The colony there is split into two warring factions, the Taira and the Hojo, each ruled by a Shogunate. There we planned to pick up some colonists that are desperate to escape the war. The plan is to settle the refugees at Lyonesse colony; this has been approved by Sarlean command.
Unfortunately, neither of the Shogunates were cooperative about releasing the refugees or prisoners. One of them refused to even speak to us about it. The other, Shogun Hu, agreed to meet with us if we beamed down unarmed. There, while the Captain was talking with the Shogun, I was able to slip away and quietly question the Royal Concubine.
I learned that the situation on the planet was even worse than we suspected. Apart from the guards, it sounded like much of the population is enslaved to be concubines, or worse. We were not able to talk long, and she was unable to tell me the details of where the prisoners are being held, but I was able to find out she plans to meet with her group tonight and I discreetly slipped her a communication device so she could contact us then with more information. Then, as the Captain’s conversation with Shogun Hu was wrapping up, I made my way back to join the away team.
