USS Einstein “Starship conundrum (part II)” Mission – 230605

The Away Team returned to the USS Einstein from the alien starship and met in the Command Room with Capt Bravin and Ensign Nova to discuss the next course of action.

Capt Bravin reviewed what had happened whilst returning to the Galileo Station from the planet Einstein - in that they had come across a starship with no life signs aboard and had therefore sent an Away Team across to the starship to investigate.
Whilst aboard the starship, the Away Team had found :-
- 9  "stasis pods",  6 of which were occupied and 3 were empty
- each of the 6 occupied  "stasis pods" contained a "humanoid" in a deep sleep (presumed members of the crew)
- an Android who said that his function was to "look after the ship and the crew"
- the Android then said that he had been trying to "wake up" the 6 crew members without success, adding that "things were not working correctly"
- when questioned about the other members of the crew from the 3 empty "stasis pods", all the Android would say was that "they went outside and were gone"

After discussing various matters about the starship and its missing crew, along with speculations as to what may have happened, it was agreed that there were more questions than answers.
Capt Bravin decided that another visit was needed to the starship to get further information from the Android before deciding what to do.
As such they left the Command Room and went to the Transporter Room, from where they beamed over to the starship.

Once aboard the starship, the Android was questioned further about why 3 of the crew went "outside" and did not return.
The Android explained that there had been a "storm" that had caused 3 of the crew to wake up from their "deep sleep". They discovered that the storm had caused damage to the ship and "went outside" to carry out repairs. However there was another "storm" whilst they were "outside" and they were swept away.
The Android added that he had then tried to "wake up" the other members of the crew, but couldn't because "it was not time for them to awake" and "things were not working correctly".

The Android agreed to Ensign Nova accessing the ship's computer system.
From the ship's computer, Ensign Nova discovered that the ship's scanners had been damaged by the "storm". As such, he suggested that the 3 crew members must have "gone outside" to carry out repairs to the scanners, but had been swept away by a second "storm".

Capt Bravin agreed that Ensign Nova should go out onto the ship's hull and carry out the necessary repairs to the scanners.
Whilst on the outer hull Ensign Nova discovered that a hatch had been breached and the electronics were covered in conductive dust. He therefore carried out repairs to the scanners, removed the dust and repaired the hatch. Then he returned inside, where he checked that the computer and associated systems were now working correctly.

Checks confirmed that the starship did not have warp capability - hence the need for the crew to be in "stasis pods".
Capt Bravin informed the Android that the starship was now repaired and was able to continue its long journey.
The Away Team then returned to the USS Einstein to complete their journey back to the Galileo Station
