Captain's log, Stardate 230128.443
A federation Comms relay station went offline and we were sent out to investigate.
Our warp drive was knocked out by a saboteur in engineering, one of our own, Cmdr Kim Korora, who realigned the antimatter injectors and damaged the chamber, making us an easy target. We were subsequently attacked by three Cardassian ships. We believe them to be part of a renegade Cardassian force known as "Wings of the Night". They were expecting all our energy systems to be down so we played dead, passively awaiting their boarding party. When all three ships were in weapons range, my tactical officer Nila Sh'Varess manually targeted them with transphasic torpedoes, followed up immediately with a volley of photon torpedoes. All three enemy ships were destroyed in the engagement.
One of the ships got off a distress call to its base before it was destroyed. Thirty minutes later three more hostile ships were picked up on long range scans. Engineering managed a running repair on the warp drive reinstating limited warp capability. We were able to push the drive hard enough to outrun our pursuers.
In the mean time I signalled Captain Maven's ship, the Tyson, explaining the hostage situation on Sarlea that led to Korora being blackmailed into damaging my ship. It appears that our base has been compromised by Wings of the Night and there may be extant threats to our operations there.
