Personal log SD230115

Sitting in the transit lounge, I had time to think back about when I was about to graduate from the academy and was waiting on my first set of assignment orders. My Mom was all about doing a good job and making a good impression on my commander, Dad said make sure to take a look around and see the sights, and my uncle Earl reminded me that nothing lasts forever, so even if you get a crap assignment with a Dunsel commander, or get a cherry assignment with a fabulous commander, nothing is ever forever in Starfleet. So, while I was surprised when I got orders for Galileo, I just chalked it up to the next job, packed my gear and waited for the next transport coreward.

The ride out wasn't bad, since it gave me time to decompress, work out, catch up on my sleep and plow through the stack of intel briefs that had piled up while I was out and about during my last post. Once we put in at Galileo, all the incoming personnel milled around in the transporter lounge waiting for one of the station's people wranglers to fetch one set or another. I did notice that I was the one grayshirt in the huddled masses of blue, gold and red, so I wasn't wholly shocked when an unassuming ensign wandered up PADD in hand to fetch me.

One short lift ride later, I was out on the quarters level and standing in front of my new billet. Not too shabby, especially given when I was racked out at [REDACTED]. Now it's just a matter of getting settled into work.
