Head of the Snake

Captain's Log | Stardate 240828

We were advised by Starfleet Command that the man we rescued from a defiant class vessel before it was annihilated—who is going under the alias Kestral Roffo—is in fact a deep cover Fleet Intel operative on a kill mission. His target "Anthrax" is the same weapons dealer whose factory we blew up en route to the Expansion Zone. Although our mission has priority over Roffo's and our security clearance level is higher than his, our objectives clearly overlap with his mission. Anthrax and his weapons trade are major impediments to the fragile peace in the Zone that we have been sent to protect. We feel that Roffo could be useful to us at the completion of his mission which he is not expected to survive and have decided to aid him without him knowing that we are on our own Starfleet mission, or that we are helping him.

Posing as a bounty hunter, Maven contacted Anthrax seeking a reward for my capture. He has invited her to escort me onto his ship suitably restrained to collect her reward. I have a dormant signal beacon implanted in my wrist that will activate when I clench my fist. Nila is monitoring my channel and has armed Roffo as support. Roffo believes that Maven and I beamed over to deliver a cargo. He is itching to get onto the yacht to complete his "secret" mission.

Captain's Log | Stardate 240828 : Supplemental

Maven and I were both captured by Anthrax's guard bot "Orgor" on beaming to his ship. Anthrax decided that Maven's bounty hunting credentials did not stack up and wanted to take no risks with her. We were both contained in flasks and saturated with a nerve agent to make us more susceptible to torture. I triggered the beacon, Mari and Roffo beamed aboard. Nila disabled Orgor, Roffo garroted Anthrax. We left explosives on his yacht which were triggered on our return to Peregrine. We have now received orders from Starfleet to retain Roffo's services for the time being but not to reveal our identity to him. Peregrine heads now into the Expansion Zone.
