Mutiny on the Bounty

Captains Log Stardate 240720-supplemental

The journey out. There were no Federation starships to taxi a trio of Starfleet officers—who don’t exist—to places of interest  that the Federation has no official interest  in. With the Peregrine waiting for us on the edge of the Expansion Zone our first task was to link up with a trading vessel heading out that way. We located a decommissioned Defiant retooled as a trader, the “Bounty” flying the Contrabinde flag, captained by Han Bonobo.

Bonobo was urgently looking for a new crew for his vessel at Terrani Station. We duly offered our services and were hired. Captain Bonobo is a scoundrel who transports anything for anyone if the price is right. He did not divulge either his cargo or his destination other than the vague “edge of the Expansion Zone”. His ship, we discovered en route, was carrying biological weapons to a Cardassian renegade group.

Immediately we were “on mission”. We mutinied. Bonobo was placed in a probe and sent as a gift to the Cardassians. He had a better than even chance of survival (hey, we aren’t that cold blooded!). We ejected his bio-weapons and had shooting practice. We were barely done with that payload when we were contacted by the weapons manufacturer and offered another shipment. We accepted, given the location of the factory whereupon we set free its enslaved workforce and blew it up.

We know that we have only cut off the tail of the beast, the head of this dark weapon's supply chain still awaits us. And we have announced our arrival to a faceless enemy to whom we are equally faceless.

When valour preys on reason, it eats the sword with which it fights —W. Shakespeare.
