I boarded the USS Shogun this morning at 1030 hours and after briefly meeting Captain Roffo and receiving my orders as Chief of Medical I headed down to Sickbay. I have also noted in my orders, sent by packet, that he has chosen me as his Executive Officer. Those duties I will perform alongside my department.
Upon entering sickbay I met my colleague Dr. Joseph Taylor who will act as my assistant and run sickbay when I am needed to perform my XO function. Dr. Taylor introduced me to our two nurses Kim and Nayah as well as a young man who appears to be in training, Dougg. I took a tour with them and received a brief from each of them. They all appear quite competent and people I will be able to count on. I am quite impressed with how Dr. Taylor has set up sickbay, he has already had all inventory logged and accounted for.
As we finished our tour two Civilians came in for treatment. My first patient presented with severe back pain. She says she bent the wrong way and experienced excruciating pain. Upon scanning I found pulled muscles and a herniated disk. I performed a lumbar realignment and prescribed 2cc's Asinolyathin to reduce spasms, swelling and pain. I ordered to rest and only perform light duty over the next several days.
My second patient presented with a concussion from contact with a wall. He was experiencing dizziness and mild pain. I again performed a scan to be sure of no hematomas and did not find any. I used a regenerator to heal the tissue, blood vessel and swelling within the brain and gave him 2 cc's of Morphenolog. I ordered the young man to rest and to not return to duty until the next day.
After my shift I took a self guided tour of the Shogun and I must say I am very impressed. She is definitely a new ship and huge!! It took me several hours to do a full tour. I am quite impressed with the design and layout though I would actually wish that my office was closer to sickbay but a transporter works nicely in an emergency to get me there quickly.
