According to current information system was uninhabited. The beacon was located, and was of a currently unidentified origin. Beacon currently transmits a dampening field that renders ship energy systems inoperative. Transmission radius extends 230K KM from source. Ship moved out of radius of effect and began coordinated scans of the system. A large debris field indicated that there was a sizeable station in-system at one time, and the science department indicated that the destruction occurred approximately 100 years ago. Several debris samples were located and examined, and while they are of what can be considered conventional hull materials, there were not in any previous cataloged alloy configurations. This would indicate there are at least one uncontacted warp capable civilization in the area. Due to the relatively unexplored and uncharted nature of the system, any additional information gathered by any source, either Federation or non-Federation sources, should be forwarded to the Galileo station office for examination.

Recommend any Starfleet vessel entering the system avoid the area of the beacon.

Additional surveillance resources should be deployed in the area to gather potential information on any unidentified ships in the area.

In-system exploration will be on-going.

J.A.
