Niavri was born in the city of Jarkana on the planet Darona, the sixth planet in the Betazed system in 2361. Her parents were both researchers there; her mother did medical research and her father did scientific research. During the Dominion occupation, her parents were both active in the resistance in a non-combat role.

Niavri has always been interested in science and she was very curious about what it would be like to explore the galaxy and visit other worlds. She was able to do well in her studies because of her natural curiosity and love of learning. She specialized in exobiology in Starfleet Academy because the differences between all life forms are most fascinating to her. She loves animals and reluctantly left the family Betazoid cat when she left to join Starfleet. She is vegetarian because she knows animals have feelings and doesn’t feel it’s right to consume them.

Prior to her transfer to the USS Einstein, Niavri was stationed aboard Deep Space 4, where she worked in the science lab. The work was interesting and Niavri was able to learn quite a bit, but she did wish to do some exploring and always felt the post would be temporary for her.

Sensitive to the feelings of most Starfleet members, Niavri is very careful to only sense surface emotions, much like that can be determined through body language and tone, unless she has permission or a very good and ethical reason to do otherwise. Sometimes people are still uncomfortable around her because she is Betazoid, but once they get to know her they can usually understand that she does value their privacy.

In her off hours Niavri enjoys reading and playing games. She also does a bit of dancing and loves nature walks. She prefers visiting real places to the holodeck, but still does enjoy visiting places on the holodeck she otherwise wouldn’t be able to. She also enjoys visiting art and science museums.

Nila was born on the icy moon, Andoria. Ever since she was a small child she dreamed of traveling to other planets and making discoveries. One of her fathers traveled quite a bit being in the Andorian Guard and she was always interested to hear about the places he visited. Since she was so fascinated by learning new things she was able to do fairly well in school. She is very interested in plant and animal life and she has collected a variety of plants for her quarters.

Nila delayed entrance into Starfleet Academy until after she was married and participated in the birth of two children. This was a priority due to the declining population of Andorians. While she was waiting she continued her studies in science. Luckily her spouses are supportive of her decision to join Starfleet and she keeps in touch with them and the children by sending letters and videos. She makes in person visits periodically when duty allows. After she graduated from the Academy and before her assignment she was able to spend some time at home with her family, and a third child was conceived. She took leave a few times during her posting to the USS Trident and they made many attempts but no pregnancy resulted from these. Before transferring to the USS Feynman she was able to take some time off and visited Andoria.

In her Starfleet career she has been able to make a few discoveries, as she had hoped. One thing she is especially proud of is being part of the team that discovered a spatial anomaly that actually turned out to be a sentient being. The team was able to avoid damaging the entity and was also able to make some communication with it. She is able to focus well on her projects and has a good work/life balance. She feels this actually makes her more efficient and less prone to error.

In her off hours, Nila enjoys dancing and using the holodeck to go on various adventures. She enjoys researching ancient cultures and fantasy (both Andorian and alien) and likes to experience how life may have been in those days or alternate universes. She is a dreamer. She is emotional at times but usually has this under control. She is not a fan of crowds and prefers smaller gatherings. She generally gets along well with people and has a good sense of humor.
