Kesla was born in the Northern Wastes of Andoria in an underground compound in the vast tunnel systems of the waste. She received the typical early education studies from the Elders of her clan and upon reaching the age of majority moved to Lor’tan to attend the Adorian Academy in 2355. Upon graduating from the Academy in 2359 she joined the Andorian Military as a Medical Officer and within six months entered the Andorian/Federation officer exchange program and was enrolled at Starfleet Academy in 2361 studying Medicine.

She graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2365 and was immediately stationed on the USS Staleo where she stayed for almost ten years until her promotion and transfer to the USS Markus.
